TBR Dream Team Run

Its my first time to run in Nuvali, the breeze is very soothing with trees and a wide grassy plain. The uphills are not that challenging which makes enjoyable and the downhills were just right to help us glide through the course. Most of the route is just like traversing a straight course and only a few gradual turns.

Pink Run 2012

The title is an eye catcher for ladies, the word "PINK" seems to be a magnet. If we would see the title as a whole "The Pink Run, D'feeting breast cancer" it would be really be interesting. It is organized by the Philippines Society of General Surgeons together with Front Runner Magazine. For a campaign for breast cancer awareness. It is a charity event which aims to fund the treatment of those battling with breast cancer.

I tried to convince some of my friends to run and this one was the line I kept iterating, "Tara takbo tayo sa pink run para sa breast awareness (Lets join the pink run for breast awareness)". Luckily I convinced three people! The three of them will be experiencing their first time running. I was overjoyed that they signed up, it gave me a sense of accomplishment that I was able to share the experience of running. They are very excited for their next run which will be happening very soon. I am really hoping to convince more friends/people to run as frequently as possible.

Lets get to the post-race review/report. The Gun time for each category are as follows: 15km @ 5:30am, 10km @ 5:40am, 5km @ 5:50am, and 3km @ 6am. The weather was nice with clear blue skies with cool temperature. There were only enough marshals(1 pair per u-turn/significant corners). However traffic wasn't controlled and was at minimal, I don't know what went wrong but, as far as I know the security guards(of McKinley Hill) should be helping out with the regulation of traffic.

We the participants in-turn had faults too, some if not most of the participants became "KING and QUEENS of the road" taking up all lanes, where no vehicle can pass by. We should always go to a conservative spot(left for 1 way(runners) traffic, and right for 2 way(runners) traffic. Hopefully this will be a lesson for us that, we keep in mind the we don't own the road and we should share it.

Chloe's Debut (21 not 18)

Chloe's debut was held on September 23. We arrived an hour prior to the event, we ample time to roam around and check out the venue, there were a number of interesting things. The baggage area and finishers area for each category had 3 whole parking lots occupied. There were about 2-3 large tents of baggage area for each category,  and there were no long lines to deposit the baggage.

A new dawn begins

As my "Ashe"(Nike Relentless) has deteriorated and has reached a mileage between 1000-1500km (based on estimates), I had to look for a new pair. After hours of researching online, I fell in love with a shoe. I was quite devasted because with all the effort, searching far and wide the metro, there was not a single pair of my size.

A farewell to a friend..

We have been together for about a year, in good times and the bad, in sickness, injury and in health, under heavy rains, the scorching sun and the mystical moon. From baby steps to powerful strides, from broken dreams to breaking limits, you were always there right alongside me. As time passed by corrosion was inevitable, constant pounding slowly scathed her inside and out.

Regent Fun Run (08-12-2012)

This race was a blessing, I had registered for another race (Rexona Run) due to the heavy rain fall which caused flooding. Three days prior to the race I read something which states that there will be a last minute registration with only a very limited count of race packs, however they were only giving up the remaining packs left with only singlets of XXL. I registered event though singlet of that size wont fit me.

HyperSports - Get Fit Run

Its been a good day for running, HyperSports' first running event has been a success! It was held at Quirino Grandstand, Manila. Sadly, I wasn't been able to register for this event, and decided to help some friends as a support crew or something like that. And I am glad to share to you what were their experiences in this race, for most of the information about the race was from the runners themselves.

Fun Run Under The Sun

I haven't been participating in any running events for a month. Some friends of mine organized a group run in UP Diliman, which I am not familiar with. Since I have been a couple of time, I had some ideas on how the place looks like and what to expect.

Merrell Adventure Run

Wow! Merrell's yearly trail run made my day, for this was my second trail run, and the best one yet. It took me about a month from recovering from my previous injury, and I am proud to be at my best shape for this run.

Earth Run not for Earth
Another earth run for this month, this time its on the exact week of earth day. This time its organized by National Geographic and EventKing. Since the announce of the event, there were a lot of criticisms from people, saying that it is a very expensive run.
Rehab Day 1
Today is the first day of my rehab for my lower extremities. I arrived very early for my scheduled session.

The session started with a quick chat with my therapist, then she gave me a sleep mask so she can start with using the infrared machine. The purpose of the mask to prevent my eyes to have contact with the infrared light. These lights are very concentrated and could damage the eyes. The purpose of this is to heat up the a specific targeted part of the body, which in this case is my foot, for the preparation for next phases of the treatment. This lasted for about 5 minutes.

Earth Run 2012
The 4th annual Earth run held on April 15, 2012 at Bonifacio Global City. There were a lot of participants as a result of the cause and the reasonable price. This was the cheapest race of 2012 as of this date.

Baguio 21k
I have been running for about 6 months and I haven't been able to run in my home town. This was my first run in Baguio City, the city of pines and the summer capital. I have been a lone wolf in all of my runs, this is the first run where I am with a group.
Salomon X-Trail Run 2012
Salomon held their annual trail running event here in the Philippines last March 31, with 1000 participants from 3 categories of 24k: mountain run, 12k and 6k: road-trail run. Gun start for 24k was at 5:30 and followed by the other 2 categories with a 30 minute gap in between.

Last man running in the rain
with Jonah at the finish line
Two races in a day, and it was very exhausting. First race was Rogin-E's "Last Man Running" at Bonifacio Global City, an event with a unique concept, a extreme test of endurance where participants of the last man running category will run 7 hours non-stop. For the last woman category, participants weren't able to finish the whole duration of the race, it became an endurance elimination race where only 1 woman was left running at the required pace.

Finding time to run
Finding time to run can be difficult, especially if faced with a busy job or hectic family life. However, finding time to squeeze in your running training is not as difficult as you might think...

Darkest Hours
Finally "completed" my first marathon! The much anticipated Condura Skyway Marathon, where runners from across the Philippines gather to run for a cause, and this year's beneficiary are the mangroves. There were more than 13,000 participants this year, where each participant's registration is equivalent to 3 mangroves. This event broke two records in the Philippines,it was the first midnight marathon and secondly it is the first marathon where it involved 1,700 participants to finish a full marathon.

My First Marathon
Only a few hours left for Condura Skyway Marathon 2012: Run For the Mangroves! This might be the biggest running event for the first quarter of 2012. This will be the first midnight marathon in the Philippines, approximately 13,000(as of Thursday night) will participate in various distances. 1,700 of which will run a full-marathon and I am proud to be one of them!

Facts About Running

What are Endorphines?

Get High, with out the drugs! During work-out or exercise the pituitary gland and the hypothalamus releases Endorpines "Endogenous Morphine". This substance helps produce analgesia and the feeling of being high or well being. The intense the work-out or exercise is the more the substance is produced, and would help achieve the "Endorphine Rush" which is a sense of immense power overflowing from the body.

Last Seven Days

One week left and its time for Condura Skyway Marathon 2012. This will be my first full-marathon in my running career, which is actually exactly 3 months on race day. I had spoken to ultra-runners(runners who do 50k or more) last weekend, and asked them for some advises or tips for running a full-marathon. They told me that to run a marathon one must go through training of at least one year and is subject to the body strength and limits. Those words were from professionals who run regularly on ultra-marathons. I was enlightened and lifted from my frenzied hunger for my first marathon and from my plan to run an ultra-trail(a hundred kilometer mountain run). Learned a lot from the talk and started projection on how will progress.

Year Starter 2012

January is about to end, and there will be no more racing for me until the end of month. This month has been a blessing, a successful year starter for me as a running enthusiast. It has been a wonderful experience to be able to participate in 2 annual big races namely Bull Run and Timex Run. These two races are annual races where a huge number of runners from enthusiasts, amateurs and pros participate.

Thoughts About the Suicidal Baptismal Run

For now running is only a recreational activity. I can't consider my self as a full-fledged runner, I think I still have a lot to go through. As of now I'm considering two things, to run half-marathon (21k) and a full-marathon (42k). These two criteria would definitely differentiate jogging from running.
