The 4th annual Earth run held on April 15, 2012 at Bonifacio Global City. There were a lot of participants as a result of the cause and the reasonable price. This was the cheapest race of 2012 as of this date.
During the claiming of the race packets, there were a lot of of complaints due to the wrong size of the singlet inside the kit and of the slow retrieval of the kits inside the stock room. It was quite tense inside the claiming booth of a sport shop since, there were some people inline while others are cutting in line. This incident lead me to a conclusion where the organizers were actually unorganized. I frequently bring a race belt to store only my camera, gels and some spare change or I bring nothing at all. But in this case a brought a hydration belt fearing of insufficient hydration and I was planning to finish early because I might ran out of finishers kits which will include the medal and certificate.
I arrived a bit late, 10 minutes before the gun start for my category. I was still able to cram some stretching. Gun start was 5 minutes late, there was an overwhelming number of runners. Around 200 meters away from the starting line, there was immediately a hydration station, I was shocked. It was my first race to have a hydration station very near to the starting line. All of my doubts and assumption about the organizers were proven wrong, there was a lot of direction signage placed along the route, no distance markers though.
Hydration was abundant, there was a station per kilometer or so. I got bloated in the early part of the race since I am used to visiting all of the hydration stations in every race. Then I always skipped a station at Buendia Avenue before hydrating again. There were two water trucks showering water to the participants, it made me happy because only a few organizers do this thing. They even provided bananas for some energy and to ease the hunger of the runners
I finished strong and had a new PR of 2:12 for 21k, and I'm thankful to the organizers they help me achieve this record. Kudos to the organizers, am hoping to join in one of your runs again!
