Year Starter 2012

January is about to end, and there will be no more racing for me until the end of month. This month has been a blessing, a successful year starter for me as a running enthusiast. It has been a wonderful experience to be able to participate in 2 annual big races namely Bull Run and Timex Run. These two races are annual races where a huge number of runners from enthusiasts, amateurs and pros participate.

It has been 2 months since I started running and I am very happy with it, it has managed to somehow make me a better person. I bested my 15/16k record twice, ran and set my record for my first half-marathon and outperform and outlast most of the participants, a very huge accomplishment for me. This will be the start of my new passion and my new life.

It may sound strange, I think running seems somewhat a form of meditation. I am on my clearest thoughts when running, able to think about the past, the present and the future; Recall what mistakes and milestones I have gone through, weighing the present, what choices to make, thinking of what the future holds for me.

To be one with the road, to go with the flow of the pack, to learn to give, hold back, and take the lead. Pain may hurt, however to be able to endure it and learn from it will make a strong person. Some lessons I have learned and I should live with.
