One week left and its time for Condura Skyway Marathon 2012. This will be my first full-marathon in my running career, which is actually exactly 3 months on race day. I had spoken to ultra-runners(runners who do 50k or more) last weekend, and asked them for some advises or tips for running a full-marathon. They told me that to run a marathon one must go through training of at least one year and is subject to the body strength and limits. Those words were from professionals who run regularly on ultra-marathons. I was enlightened and lifted from my frenzied hunger for my first marathon and from my plan to run an ultra-trail(a hundred kilometer mountain run). Learned a lot from the talk and started projection on how will progress.
My battle gear are set a gel-pack/belt, s pieces of energy gels, a tech-shirt, a pair of compression tights and running socks, a visor, running shoe and my mp3 player. Will do the break-in for these tomorrow morning, will try at-most a 10k run, this will the last long run before the race day. Will be continuing short runs on a daily to maintain my body condition. I am hoping to be at my best on the race day.
Finally the last part of the preparation, which is my personal favorite, Carbo-Loading! Eat, eat, eat and just eat nothing to else to do but eat, I find it difficult though. My appetite has been reduced to a half or more since I started working. I can't eat as much as before when I was still a student. Oh, I really am really missing that monstrous appetite of mine.
Just a reminder, the whole Skyway will be closed February 4(8pm)-5(8am), I am not sure of the time b. Be sure have alternative routes, there will surely be a heavy traffic. Race will start at 12:00am for 42k and cut-off time will be at 8am for all categories.
