Regent Fun Run (08-12-2012)

This race was a blessing, I had registered for another race (Rexona Run) due to the heavy rain fall which caused flooding. Three days prior to the race I read something which states that there will be a last minute registration with only a very limited count of race packs, however they were only giving up the remaining packs left with only singlets of XXL. I registered event though singlet of that size wont fit me.
The event was pushed through even some would say that the organizers should move the event because of the flooding. The organizers had set-up a campaign to help the victims of the recent flooding via donation form participants and their friends. According to a statement from one of the teams they managed to collect at least a truck full of donations from clothes, shoes, food etc.

For the race itself the route was excellent almost flat expect for the Kalayaan-Buendia flyover, marshals were deployed everywhere, directional signs and distance markers were properly placed, ample hydration stations and 23 ambulances were scattered along the route.

The weather was great during the race cloudy skies and a bit of rain towards the end of the event. I started strong, ran my regular-fast pace during the early stages of the race to avoid the overwhelming number of participants in the 16k category.

Since I was running a faster pace rather than my comfortable pace. I felt heat building up in my body so from the first hydration station I started pouring a full cup of water onto my body to help it regulate the heat. My shirt did not dry up quickly, making me feel cold. I took it off at just after the 3k mark and 3rd hydration station. Tried to dry it via squeezing but it wont work, so I did not put it back on and had my first topless run.

I can say the run was very successful, with an overwhelming number of people   who supported the run and its cause. Two thumbs up for the organizer! Will definitely join your next event!
