My First Marathon
Only a few hours left for Condura Skyway Marathon 2012: Run For the Mangroves! This might be the biggest running event for the first quarter of 2012. This will be the first midnight marathon in the Philippines, approximately 13,000(as of Thursday night) will participate in various distances. 1,700 of which will run a full-marathon and I am proud to be one of them!

I have registered for this event for one and only reason: I did it for Fun. Yes, you read it right, FUN. Tomorrow will be me third month in running, and I am happy and enjoying it. This run will be the prelude for my running life. If I finish this in less than 6 hours, I will continue my quest to participate in all major marathons this year. If I finish it in less than 5 hours, I will be looking forward to run an ultra-marathon hopefully a hundred kilometer.

Why am I doing this? Most people run, to make them slim and fit. In my case, I actually am still unclear on what the reason is. I just had this urge to take a step forward. I feel that I am a different person when running. Running long distances is not a quest for pain, its a test of both physical and mental limits, even to an extent where these limits have to be broken.

As this is my first marathon, and I did not go through proper training which requires about a year and pass the "wall" which is a 32k run. It is called the "wall" because of one reason, it is where the body begins to feel pain and exhaustion and eventually breaks down. I might end-walking until the finish line, injured and even transported to a medical facility and  not finish the race.

I won't back down, I made this decision and made my choice, I WILL FINISH THIS no matter what happens. This maybe or may not be a life and death situation but anything can happen. The road to success is not easy, to be able to overcome the trail of excruciating pain would be a glorious battle. And will be remembered.
Everything is ready, the battlefield is set, there is no backing out! Condura Skyway Marathon, here I come!

"If you cross that finish-line, no matter how slow or how fast, it will change your life forever!"
