Training Week 1

The training season has officially started. Three weeks left to train to the annual Saxman's Laguna Loop, which is approximately a bike ride along the Laguna Lake (will make a separate write-up for this). This is the 3rd instance that I will be joining this event and this year will be difficult, because I lacked build-up training for this, been too relaxed this year as opposed to the previous years.

Previously we, the Row4Boys started building our cycling fitness during the Ber months, but for this year I am left out due to unpredictable work schedule and supposedly training for a Marathon. Anyways, lets not dwell on that.

Moving forward, the first day of training kicked off with a quick and short run which was relatively comfortable since my running fitness is at average since I have been consistently running inconsistently, kind of contradicting right? I run just run whenever I had free time or felt like running. However this time I should strictly follow the training plan.

The run session was preceded with a long-hard bike session which seemed to be short and easy. Probably this is caused of excitement since it will be my first official time on saddle since December. The session was indeed difficult. Sticking to a hard pace during while maintaining the proper stroke was a pain, but this will be needed in the long run in order to maximize the efficiency of pedaling.

Next in queue was the run, just to summarize the session - it was painful as hell, a post effect of the hard bike session, but need to stick to the training plan. The warm up was difficult but then came the actual run part where the pain gradually subsided as the legs were completely warmed up.

Upon checking the training schedule I had, I was relieved that Saturday was a rest day! My quads really hurt a lot, and there was a long ride with the Boys on Sunday and I was wondering how will the long ride go with my current level of cycling fitness.

For the week's nutrition - Pasta! This will be on a separate post.

So that all for the week, stay tuned! Thanks for reading
