Pink Run 2012

The title is an eye catcher for ladies, the word "PINK" seems to be a magnet. If we would see the title as a whole "The Pink Run, D'feeting breast cancer" it would be really be interesting. It is organized by the Philippines Society of General Surgeons together with Front Runner Magazine. For a campaign for breast cancer awareness. It is a charity event which aims to fund the treatment of those battling with breast cancer.

I tried to convince some of my friends to run and this one was the line I kept iterating, "Tara takbo tayo sa pink run para sa breast awareness (Lets join the pink run for breast awareness)". Luckily I convinced three people! The three of them will be experiencing their first time running. I was overjoyed that they signed up, it gave me a sense of accomplishment that I was able to share the experience of running. They are very excited for their next run which will be happening very soon. I am really hoping to convince more friends/people to run as frequently as possible.

Lets get to the post-race review/report. The Gun time for each category are as follows: 15km @ 5:30am, 10km @ 5:40am, 5km @ 5:50am, and 3km @ 6am. The weather was nice with clear blue skies with cool temperature. There were only enough marshals(1 pair per u-turn/significant corners). However traffic wasn't controlled and was at minimal, I don't know what went wrong but, as far as I know the security guards(of McKinley Hill) should be helping out with the regulation of traffic.

We the participants in-turn had faults too, some if not most of the participants became "KING and QUEENS of the road" taking up all lanes, where no vehicle can pass by. We should always go to a conservative spot(left for 1 way(runners) traffic, and right for 2 way(runners) traffic. Hopefully this will be a lesson for us that, we keep in mind the we don't own the road and we should share it.
